We love playing with shaving cream . Typically, we can be found digging in it for just about every holiday (Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Summer Vacation, Halloween .. well you get the idea!), so when I got my hands on a copy of 150+ Screen-Free Activities for Kids from our awesome friend Asia Citro over at Fun At Home With Kids, shaving cream paint was something I knew we had to try!
Now I have to be honest, this book is so out of this world fantastic, that it was seriously difficult to narrow down an activity. There are so many phenomenal doughs, slimes, paints, small worlds and other sensory play fun, that the options are endless! But, you always have to start somewhere right? Shaving cream paint was the our first choice! This paint truly couldn't get any simpler, and it is so versatile.
It took me a minute to whip up a batch of red and green. Kingston requested that he use a sponge brush, so gladly obliged. He painted a piece of white cardstock and a paper plate.
Once he was done with the red, he painted the paper plate green. He tested out the paint with his fingers and told me it was "sticky soft!". After he was done, I blotted it with a paper towel to smooth down any of the access shaving cream. Once dry, I cut the red painting into a candy cane and cut out the center of the paper plate to create an ornament. (The rest of the paper plate will be used later on in the week for another fun craft!)
I cut a hole in the top of the ornament and tied some Natural Braiding Cord from CraftProjectIdeas to the top to make the ornament usable. Then we decorated the ornament using their Green Glitter Glue!
