This was by far our biggest and most exciting Baby Book Club meeting yet. We had 7 kiddos, 2 infants, and 6 adults! The house was wonderfully crowded and the kids came bearing Valentine's! The parents were asked to bring a mailbox or receptacle for their child's Valentine's, and everyone came with lots of goodies to exchange.
For Kingston's Valentines, I made each child their own homemade playdough, identical to the one we played with in our Fine Motor Playdough activity. I put them in cellophane heart bags from the Dollar Tree, printed out these cute little sayings, laminated them, and attached them with sparkly red ribbon. They came out pretty cute!
The book this month was I Love You Through And Through by Bernadette Rossetti Shustek. This book is so sweet, and definitely fit the Valentine's Day theme. We all gathered around to read it. Then we jumped right into our craft!
Our Valentine's Day craft was classic craft, Toilet Paper Roll Heart Stamping. Prior to everyone coming over, I made heart shaped toilet paper roll stampers by folding the cardboard tube in half, pushing one part of the fold in and taping. This is actually way more difficult then it sounds. It was a bit tedious to make 8 decent heart stampers!
This is a great easy project for a big group! We poured red washable paint on paper plates for the kids to use to dip the stampers. The parents demonstrated the dipping and stamping, and the toddlers went at it.
Since this was a party, we had quite a bit of fun party food to go along with our Valentine's Day theme! I made heart shaped pizzas using my favorite bread recipe from Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. We also had pink cupcakes, chocolate pretzel treats, Annie's Homegrown Berry Patch Fruit Snacks,Apple & Eve Organic Juice Boxes, and several other snacks!
The kids chowed down on all the yummy treats, and so did we!
(These two were pretty much inseparable! There was love in the air!)
